What to expect:
The church isn’t “all about us”. We’re here, in large part, for
people who don’t have a church home, for those who have
maybe never been to a church in their lives, and/or those who
are seeking to know more about God. We’re a church for those who
may have been turned off by religion, but who are still open to
the idea of drawing nearer to God.
When you enter our building for the 10:30 worship service, you
can expect to be greeted warmly, and handed a bulletin
(program), that will outline the morning service.
For those with babies and/or small children, we have a nursery,
well-staffed by caring volunteers. Upon entering the building,
you’ll proceed immediately downstairs, turn right (past the
restrooms), and then make a left, where the nursery is located.
(We also have a nursery for Sunday School, along with classes
for all ages, from pre-school through high school.)
Our worship service is designed to give every person an
opportunity to be brought near to Jesus. We have quality
musicians who help us to sing from the heart. Our music is a
blend of both traditional and more contemporary styles.
Throughout the service the Bible (and therefore, God) is central
to what takes place. The weekly message from the pastor is meant
to be both practical and inspiring.
not recognize visitors in any special way during the service. We
want you to feel comfortable just to “check things out”.
However, if you’d like, we’re more than glad to answer any of
your questions, get to know you better, and have you get to know
us, too. (Following the service, many people “hang around” for
awhile in an informal atmosphere. Additionally, if anyone has a
need for prayer, the pastor and/or others are glad to pray with
that individual or family.)
(Though we receive an offering during the service, you do not
need to feel any compulsion to participate. You are welcome to
do so, but this time is intended for our members to contribute
to the church’s ministry.)
Brief Sampling of What Is Happening at Washington Presbyterian
and Who We Are:
We’re a congregation that ranges in age from newborn babies
through people in their eighties. We come from all walks of
a church that’s committed to living out the Christian life in
both Word and Deed.
(sermons) – are all based directly on the Bible
in Sunday School
Home Fellowship Groups
where we meet in homes, sharing, encouraging, and praying for
one another, in addition to discussions regarding the meaning of
the Bible in our lives
Free Oil Changes
– Three times a year, our church offers free oil changes to the
community. We provide the service itself along with the oil &
filter. We receive no donations. Typically, we change the
oil on about 30 vehicles each time.
– High School football is a big deal in Washington! We provide
parking, hot dogs, popcorn, and beverages – all for free. We do
this on the front lawn of our church for all Washington High
In short, we try to be consistent
(in both what we teach and do) with the Bible’s main
message: “that God was
reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s
sins against them.”
(2 Corinthians 5:19a)
We’re a church that serves our community and gives stuff away
because God Himself freely gave His Son, Jesus, to us,
and because He cares for both our eternal destiny as well as
our daily, practical needs.
